Death the Halls with Fire and Flames There's nothing more soothing to me than red and black candles lit on a mantle, with a tree full of lights nearby. I wonder why most people don't take advantage of doing things they like, rather than wondering what everyone will think...a mix of Halloween and Christmas wouldn't be my own concept, although I'll take some credit for maximizing the idea. :-) Here's a few ideas that I use in decorating for the Holidays. The Tree Use lights found in most bargain stores. Skulls, pumpkins, ghosts, or I like the sets of grape bunches. If not, choose a color - orange and purple lights come out during Halloween; straight red or blue always make a statement. Create a theme. For example, if you wanted to make a Witch's Xmas tree, try purple lights, crystals wrapped in wire hanging from the branches, string up some tarot cards, create mini broomstick and black cat ornaments, and use a huge pointed hat for the topper. Complete the look with silver tinsel for magical appeal. The Mantle If you don't have a mantle, use a shelf instead. Large dark colored pillars, mini tealights, a few gargoyle figurines, and a feather boa for garland. Hang long black and red socks from the edge. Paint ball ornaments with red and black designs and glue together to form your own wreath. Place black silk roses in a small vase and set your extra ball ornaments inside or around the edges. The Nativity Use your imagination with different figurines that you collect. Dark angel statues, gravestones, dragons, etc. A roll of batting works well for the base of a very morbid snow scene. Creativity can't be controlled. LOL Back to list of articles |
